Numeracy and Literacy

Our numeracy and literacy programs support and develop the mind while building on communication skills. We offer everything from digital literacy programmes and brain gym through to one-on-one support with reading and writing.

Mind Hub

Our Mind Hub participants put their minds to use during this program. A variety of activities are offered up each week, with clients working independently with support to complete each task, focusing on numeracy, literacy, memory and coordination.

Book Club

Book club is a good opportunity to look at different types of literature. We cover everything from novels and short stories to learning about New Zealand authors, as well as learning about the book making process through to knowing what different books are used for.

We help our clients learn how to use the Library, these skills can be transferred to everyday life by learning responsibility and getting more exposure to help their literacy skills.

Computer Gym

Computer gym aims to improve literacy and numeracy skills through digital learning. Clients can use their digital literacy skills to help improve their reading, writing spelling and math in a way that is suitable to their learning style. Computer gym also focuses on basic computer skills and data management.

Reading Programmes

We are very lucky to offer one on one reading support to our clients on Wednesday mornings.  Our volunteer Sue has worked alongside our clients for a number of years, supporting and developing their reading and writing skills.
